A Maze
2 Attachment(s)
Last year when we gathered all our quilts for CASA I saw a maze quilt that another member quilted. I asked for the pattern and so this year this is one of the quilts we will be donating. Not only did Marge bring me the pattern she also cut these squares. I found enough for the backing in my stash to go with it. I quilted it with a larger meander than my Blush & Bashful I just posted. I think not only can a child play the maze, which has 2 ways out, I can see them running a toy car through the paths or playing I Spy with the squares. Something not only to comfort but entertain too. I hope you like the idea as much as I do. Toogie

What a fabulous idea.......so fun for any child. What a great friend to cut all the squares besides letting you borrow the pattern.

I love that you marked the start and stop with flying geese blocks! Your maze is awesome and I’m sure it will be loved.

Great idea...and a child-friendly quilt! Can't beat that combination.....

Great idea. Great quilt!

Toogie, that's a great quilt and wonderful gift!!! I love the maze+race track+I spy combo.

It looks like your squares are 2.5 inches? Is that right?
|
Wonderful quilt for a child. That will brig hours of pleasure.

Very lovely quilt. It looks like a fun quilt to make with very basic steps. I see this quilt keeping a young person very warm. Perfect for someone' s grandchild. Of course I always think of my grand children when thinking of a child's quilt. Who ever gets this quilt will use it with joy. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome idea! I like the concept of I Spy along with the maze. Clever use of the FG.

That is a wonderful quilt for a child. You did a great job on it.

Lovely quilt! I made a maze for my youngest grandson about 30 years ago. I appliqued a mouse at the beginning of the maze in the top border and a piece of cheese at the end of the maze in the bottom border. He loved the Matchbox cars and had a lot of them. He would drive them over the maze again and again. I hope the recipient of your quilt enjoys it as much as my grandson did.

Love it, please explain
What a cute quilt...thinking I can use all the 2.5" squares I've been saving from charity quilts. Could you explain in general how it is assembled? Sections with long black strips? or all squares- even the black maze walls?

The first nine are 7 x 7 and the bottom three are 7 x 8, with the eight bottom and top rows being the black strips. To get the size of black strips/walls just count the colored squares next to them. Use the picture for your chart. For instance all the color squares finish at 2 inches. If there is 6 colored squares and a black strip only goes by the side of 4, then cut your black strip 8 1/2. Always add a half inch for your 1/4 in seams on each end of the strips. Hope you understand, if not pm me.-Thanks to you and everyone else who looked and commented. I appreciate your comments.-Toogie |
