Is it me or is the green in this a little too blah. It seems really bland to me, but I thought it might just be me not seeing the whole picture at the moment.

Hope the colors come out right.

That is a great Drunkards Path quilt you are working on. Is it going to be a quilt? The green is good for me.

lyndawn 01-01-2009 09:45 PM

It will actually end up being 36"-40" square for a table topper. I bought the fabric because I loved it. I don't have enough for quilt and the fabric doesn't match my house. I wasn't sure what to do with it till I was in my cousin" new house. She has those exact colors there. My first thought was "that's where the table topper belongs" so, it will be for her:)

Thanks:)

I think it is great!

Looks good to me!

SulaBug 01-01-2009 11:59 PM

I think it looks very good together. It will make a wonderful table topper.

GailG 01-02-2009 04:05 AM

The colors are great ! Can't wait to see it all done. Beautiful work.

beachlady 01-02-2009 04:09 AM

I also think it look great. And if those are her colors, I am sure she will love it.

barnbum 01-02-2009 04:27 AM

Well--it it matches her house perfectly--I wouldn't change a thing. Maybe a table topper needs to be calming--not too bright.
Besides the maroon really stands out.

Quilt4u 01-02-2009 04:42 AM

Looks great to me.

sandpat 01-02-2009 06:02 AM

I like the pattern...my puter doesn't show any green, so I can't say. I like the topper though!

mary quite contrary 01-02-2009 06:14 AM

I agree. It's not quite right. You'd better send it to me. LOL!!!!!!

I really like it but maybe the colors aren't showing up right on my computer. Either that or my eyes are wonky because I really like it.

sewsewquilter 01-02-2009 06:16 AM

Looks great!!!! Doesn't look bland at all. I think the green helps the other colors to pop. Another fabric might make it to busy.

Lynda in TN 01-02-2009 06:21 AM

I think it's great, but I don't see any green in it at all except for the cutting board it's laying on! I really like it.

Bevanger 01-02-2009 06:23 AM

looks great to me

bj 01-02-2009 06:50 AM

I think it will make a beautiful table topper. I like the colors.

pocoellie 01-02-2009 07:57 AM

Even if you think it's blah, since that's the same colors in your cousin's house, I'm sure she'll love it. You've done a wonderful job, even though you think it's blah. I'm sure it'll be a beautiful topper.

Mplsgirl 01-02-2009 08:16 AM

You did fine, I believe.

lyndawn 01-02-2009 08:52 AM

Thanks so much for the input and compliments.

I was kind of thinking of going cream, maroon, green, cream, etc. I don't think it looks bad, but something just feels like it's missing to me. Hmmm, I'll have to play around with it some. I'll probably end up right back where I am now...LOL

I really like the colors you chose. I wouldn't change it at all!

Doncha love it when a plan comes together like that? Good job on the piecing, too.

On my 'puter, the green looks olivy-taupy. It's very pretty. A later post suggests the maroon center. I like that idea.
the contrast would make the "green" around it pop.

Knot Sew 01-03-2009 08:18 AM

I like the green but the one that looks purple, I would change to peach, or a dull orange, or a muted pink :D

lyndawn 01-03-2009 10:49 AM

Thanks everyone:)

I did end up doing maroon in the center. it was an amazing difference! The green is an olivy sort of color with cream and taupe stripes. I have half the pieces sewn together. Hoping to finish all the pieces tonight and start sewing them all together. Shouldn't take too long.

Nice! We're ready for another pic then...pretty please??

littlehud 01-03-2009 05:45 PM

Oh my goodness. The paisley fabric is the same fabric I used in my double irish chain. I love that fabric. Your green looks Ok to me.

lyndawn 01-03-2009 06:09 PM

I fell in love the paisly print as soon as I saw it. I resisted 2 times in the store. After that, I could no longer say no, it called to me...LOL

Pics will be coming soon I promise:) I just finished sewing all the blocks. I had to cut a few more tonight. I'll be putting them all together in a few min. Just letting my iron heat up right now so I can iron the seams.

Do you have any idea of how you want to quilt it? I've noticed that many of my friends who have a long arm business often find that a quilt top they are working on seems to be missing something and they usually take the opportunity to do some amazing quilting on it. It could just be a design or they use thread that really adds to the top. Would that help in this situation?

I'm looking forward to seeing an updated picture. I love the green (I like olives and khaki colors) and think it looks lovely. I think your cousin will be very touched at the care and effort you have put into it!

I love it and hope you post a picture when you are finished!!

Mousie 01-07-2009 06:00 PM

I like it and bet the maroon looks great. What kind of binding are you going for, if it's there then I need to clean my glasses, lol. I would go with a stripe with maroon.
Don't you just love everything fabric??? C

lyndawn 01-07-2009 07:01 PM

I do love fabric:) My mom was making fun of me because she says I am more careful with my fabric than I was with my kids when they were babies..LOL

I rearranged some of the colors and I hadn't decided on the border yet :?

Thanks for the ideas though:)
