Memorial Day
 

This is my very favorite design of our American flag. The design is from Blackbird Designs and was included in one of their books, Summer Weekend. I have made this flag for many families that have lost a son or daughter while serving our country. On this Memorial Day weekend may we all remember what this day is truly about.

Memorial Day is a somber day of reflection and remembrance. Not a "happy" holiday, really. It's too bad that so many have turned it into a picnic holiday. It means so much more.

Beautiful! It’s fantastic that you make this for families who have lost loved ones serving our country. My father is a veteran of WWII, my father in law was a veteran of the Korean War, and my brother in law was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Happy Memorial Day, everyone.

I know what Sewbizgirl means about picnics but it also makes sense to me to enjoy the day with family or friends. That's what these brave people fought for. I just wish they didn't have to give up their lives.
