This is a quilt that I made in a class called 'Fast Bargello' and I loved it it was about this time of year. The title is 'August 9, 2000' and this is a place that my mother and I went to the last year of her life here on earth. My mother gave me a megawatt smile that morning and told me that she loved me and would see me at lunch, I got to smile at her and tell her how much I loved her before I went out the door and just an hour later she had slipped away in her sleep. That night as the sun set, my husband and I sat on the rocks looking out to the ocean and cried for our loss of a great friend. Anyway I wanted to share this quilt as it hangs in our bedroom, this is machine pieced and then I long arm quilted it with warm and natural white batting and I used a varigated gold thread and the backing is the same as the inner boarder. And in the waves I can hear my moms laughter as it always made you feel so good.

What a wonderful memory, and what a beautiful memorial to your Mom! Sorry for your loss. I think we never get past missing our Moms, although we move on.
Thanks for sharing your pretty quilt.

I got to shed a tear or two for my own loss even after all this time I know the wonders that she would enjoy and the sadness that she would feel, but in the back of my mind I think that she is showing my dad what a 'woman' she became and she could probably show him a thing or two!! :D And I got to believe that they are having a blast!

Your quilt is wonderful and it's story is even more wonderful. When we no longer have our mothers here to love at least we can love what they left us, memories.

What a beautiful quilt. What a beautiful memory of your mum.

Most of get one mother in this life. If you pick a good one, it's enough.
