OMG What a wonderful thing to say! You have put the biggest smile on my face! :-D :-D :-D

Highmtn 09-11-2011 09:10 AM

KastleKitty...

I am NOT KIDDING... this is ART!! I'm glad you're smiling - I'm still trying to pull my eyeballs back into my noggin'..lol

I'm just BLOWN AWAY at your creative process! Since you've been so kind as to respond is there ANY ONE (or two) books you could direct me to that would instruct me on foundation knowledge of this "creative style" you seem to have MASTERED so beautifully??? When I saw your photos you posted it was A HUGE "THERE IT IS!!!!" for me! I did some beading back in the 70's...but.. I always felt I needed to LEARN the process so I knew it was done right.

I did have a pair of jeans back in my day that (had I had any sense) I would have kept and framed...LOL I randomly beaded and embroidered various sayings on those jeans for years. Hand sewed the holes back together and then beaded over the holes...lol I have NO IDEA where they went..

Well, I think this lady needs to teach us all how to make these dandelions! A tutorial perhaps, with lots of pictures. It would be great to have an area on the board where we could have a class and then others post what they have created with the instruction.
As for weeds, my mother who is an avid gardener always said the difference between a flower and a weed is where it grows. I have lots of things growing in my flower beds that others might consider weeds. Chickory grows in the fields around here and I think it is beautiful when it flowers. I don't pull it up and if it happens to grow in one of my beds I give it all the room it requires.

ncredbird...
Great idea! I'd love a basic tutorial (full of photos and step by step) instructions for one small project that included the whole process from planning the image, cutting it out to the final beading process. Do you bead it BEFORE of after it's done.. or after the binding is put on? I have no clue. Do all those stitches show on the back, or is that sandwiched in between the layers to the back is neat and tidy?? Inquiring minds would LOVE to know!!

Love this idea... just a simple beginners project/tutorial. nothing huge or elaborate.

: )

Muse&Sew 09-11-2011 10:27 AM

Love all of your beautiful blocks! They're gorgeous! So did you sew all of the beadwork by hand?

Muse&Sew 09-11-2011 10:28 AM

I'd love a tutorial too! This is amazing.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful applique, emboirdery, and beading. Just lovely.

KastleKitty 09-11-2011 11:04 AM

Ladies, tell you what, I was trying to write a reply to Highmtn that got very long-winded, paused and came back to find that you want some pictures. Instead of the long-winded explanation, I will see if I can work on it this week and come up with some pictures and instructions.

I try to do all the beading last because it is difficult to go back to the machine and sew if you have beads already attached. And there is a lot of handwork in my pieces. I like hand embroidery and mix whatever I want together. I don't really follow a lot of rules. I embroider with batting already added - supposedly a big no-no because of the cotton fuzz. But I like the stability it gives to the hand embroidery. And I mix machine stitching and handwork without worrying about the quilting police. Sometimes the machine stitching lines are helpful for spacing and neatness. I am more concerned about the appearance and neatness than protocol.

I guess you have given me some homework for the week :-D :-D :-D
