Mi Casa es su casa
2 Attachment(s)
Mi casa es su casa means My house is your house, the ultimate welcome to guests in your home. You often see these made of talavera tile in souvenir shops. I found this version of a machine embroidery design from Embroidery Library. It took about an hour and a half to stitch out, well worth it.
I used two layers of stabilizer, as there is heavy embroidery. Instead of ripping the stabilizer off after stitching, I left it on and layered batting and backing fabric. It gave the piece lots of stability and subsequently, it was easier to do the free motion quilting on it. I used a scrappy orphan block as my backing fabric, which really makes it truly homey, plus I am determined to use up my scrappies. I added a thin gold ribbon to hang it up easily. Due to two layers of stabilizer it almost feels like very heavy cardstock, perfect for wall hanging.
