They're on my list of Christmas "to-do's" as well. Nice job! Thanks for sharing.

Pretty and ever so practical gifts for the season.
Well done!

that just reminded me I need to make some for my cousins
love your colors. i'll probably do the same. |
very nice!!!!

I just got recruited to make a bunch for a local hospice group. They want to give them to patients so they can eat their soup, etc. and not burn their hands.
This is a great idea, but are they safe to use in the microwave? These have been on my "to-do" list for a long time.
I love making these and gifting them, yours are wonderful! Recently made 15 to give as gifts. Had not made any since this time last year and the first one this year, well duh, I forgot the darts, LOL but a wonderful matching potholder for its corrected bowl.
great idea!

Very cute idea! Where did you get your pattern from?
They are safe as long as they are all cotton. I will test them all before gifting with water filled bowls in the microwave. I will also include instructions with a little warning about heating them up.
There are many patterns on Pinterest. I never follow them exactly but get the same results. I did quilt some of the bottoms as well as the corners trying to make them a little stiffer.
My husband likes to eat his meal sitting in his rocking chair in the living room, so I serve most of it in a bowl with one of these bowl holders. It takes him longer to eat now, so the bowl holders keep it hot longer. Then I take another bowl and another bowl holder and join him in my chair.
Of course these need washing often, so we need to make a stack of them. |
Good reminder! I need to make some too. I seem to recall there is a particular batting that works best.
I just finished a order for 20 of these for Christmas gifts. The customer buys a small casserole dish to go in it. It makes a wonderful gift.
I made them for Christmas last year, went to the dollar store and purchased micro-safe bowls and made one for each family member. My granddaughter uses hers for ice cream LOL.
These are very neat. I recently went to a local quilt show and saw these for the first time. Great idea!! Will have to look up the pattern.
Good job. I tried making those, but i must have done something wrong as they did not look like yours, which came out nicely.
They'll be the perfect gift. Cute and practical.
You did a really good job. I need to make more. As somebody said, they get washed a lot! I use 100% cotton without scrim (glue) and you can also use the batting for the tater bags. I use them all the time for both hot- in the micro- and cold foods and have never had any problems. I make larger/flatter ones for my flat soup bowls, and the regular ones for cereal or ice cream bowls. Your bowls will be really appreciated by their recipients. Both handy and pretty!

Lovely collection of very festive bowls
Very nicely done.

Those are great. I, too, should make some more for gifts. I have a couple for myself that I use frequently.
