Microwave Potholder Bowl Cozies

I made 2 microwave potholder bowl cozies today. They are reversible too and washable. These hold the soup bowl from Corelle dish sets.

This YouTube is similar to the way I make mine.

These are great. Love the fabrics you picked for them. They are such a handy item to have. I have made & sold many of these. They are great for flea markets. I even get call in orders for them.

Thanks for sharing this video with us.

I thought I would do a PDF from the video since she did such a nice job of explaining how to make these.

Cute fabric. I love the one my best friend made me. They really work great but I am always careful not to run the microwave longer than 3 minutes. This was a warning posted numerous times on this site previously.

Thanks "juneayerza" for the pdf. I have one made by a friend and I use it EVERYDAY for: oatmeal, soup or ice cream! Works great. Enjoy yours. They make great gifts.

I made these for gifts last year, every one loved them.

banwell 05-13-2014 08:59 AM

Where did you find the fabric with crabs on it--it is my favorite.

MargeD 05-13-2014 09:54 AM

Thanks for sharing the site. These would make great gifts at Christmas.

MarleneC 05-13-2014 10:02 AM

Some of the ladies here have made these for plates--they just make shallower darts.

Is that due to worry of the cotton catching on fire? What if the heat resistant batting was used?

silverfoxmag 05-13-2014 02:36 PM

Very nice, love your fabric.

Sandyquilts, thanks for sharing, went to you tube and watched the video, will surely make some to share.

SouthPStitches 05-13-2014 03:31 PM

I was gifted a trio of these for my last birthday. In your case, I think you should enjoy a bowl of crab bisque in the crab printed cozy!

JanieH 05-13-2014 03:57 PM

What a great idea!

#1piecemaker 05-13-2014 04:07 PM

Do you put the bowl into the bowl holder and then warm it or put the bowl into the holder after taking it out of the microwave?

LavenderBlue 05-14-2014 12:11 AM

You microwave the bowl IN the holder. :-)

mimiknoxtaylor 05-14-2014 01:41 AM

Thanks for sharing. I made a couple last year as gifts but maybe this will prompt me to make one for my kitchen.
Also thank you to June A for the PDF
