They are great. I am so proud of you. I know it really feels good to have finished that mNY.

littlehud 10-13-2010 02:57 PM

Wow, you did a great job on those. And what a wonderful cause.

ccb2200 10-13-2010 03:02 PM

You have been busy. Love them. I have thought of doing these but I don't know where to take them in my area.

marilynr 10-13-2010 03:15 PM

Yes, these are fun to do. I certainly have not made as many as you have, but I do what I can.

Grammy o'5 10-13-2010 03:16 PM

Wow! That's a lot of pillowcases! Great job.
Thank you for doing that. I've made a few quilts and donated to Quilt For Kids, it is a great feeling.

harvsstuff 10-13-2010 03:26 PM

Good job. Our quilting group made about 200 of these awhile back.

ann clare 10-13-2010 04:19 PM

Beautiful, colorful pillowcases

MommaDorian 10-13-2010 04:21 PM

I've made them too, isn't it wonderful?!!! Keep up the good work.

np3 10-13-2010 04:28 PM

Yes, I make them anytime they put up a request for them.

Bobbielinks 10-13-2010 04:30 PM

Your pillowcases are lovely! Thank you for making them for the Challenge! This past summer I made 17 and took them into a local fabric shop. It was a fun thing to do!

beachlady 10-13-2010 04:41 PM

I love making pillow cases and have some to give for the cause.

mequilter 10-13-2010 04:54 PM

They are so much fun to make. I brought 15 in a couple months ago and have 7 more all set to go. It's a wonderful cause.

Ann L 10-13-2010 04:56 PM

This is a good idea. It is the first I have heard of it though. Where do I find information regarding this? I enjoy making pillow cases but you can only have so many. I have some to give as well. Please let me know what to do with them all.

Great Job you have done! I hope my pillowcases turn out as nice! I am a pillowcase fiend, always grabbing the nice high thread count ones at the thrift store that haven't been over used! I have so few matching ones in my linen closet, but it sure beats paying $7-$15 for a set! With so many extra pillows used in our bed, I go thru about 10 with each bed change... I keep extras for sitting up in bed, and it's a Cal King, so there is a lot of space to fill ;) When I saw the challenge, I thought to myself, you gotta do that, something I like making and can help others find comfort like I do in a neat pillowcase!

I have been collecting fabric donations for the Challenge, and am about to get started now that I have a decent pile of pieces that are large enough to use. When I first heard of it, I had nil for fabric!

I also signed up for the Quilts for Kids program, and ordered the fabric kit. It is awesome! I'm almost done with the first one, they send you the backing fabric, and a set of border strips, solid patches and strips for making 4patch sets. I am about to sew my rows together for the quilt, and then to add the border. All one needs to provide is the batting and thread, and time, plus return shipping. The fabric is really good quality from Robert Kaufman, and is actually labeled for the program on the selvage. My quilt is a lime green, brown and blue color series, and I'll post a pic of it when I finish. The Pillowcase challenge was the easy task to undertake, since it requires so little cutting and sewing to whip out a lot, mostly it's getting enough fabric for them! I have just been dealing with a touch of tendinitis lately which slowed my sewing down a bit, but I'm ready to resume and get it going again! HAPPY Quilting!

Your pillowcases are great. Good job.
I have made 18 and have fabric enough for 30 more. I am donating them to our local children's home for teens.
After that, I will be donating them to the Veteran's hospital. There are a lot of vets who 'live' at the hospital because there is no nursing home they can go to.

Here's the link for the information of how to make, where to send, etc. They are up to 165,154 pillowcases thus far. Have along way to go, but they'll get there.

PS - anytime you want info on anything you read on the board, go above to SEARCH, click it, type in what you are looking for, and 'Voila' you get results.

judee0624 10-13-2010 05:20 PM

Good for you! I haven't donated pillowcases yet, but have donated quilts to the hospital. It is a very good feeling and an excusee to buy more fabric!

Ah, that is good to hear, last time I checked the site they were at about 120K received.

Ann L 10-13-2010 05:28 PM

Thanks for the link. Time to collect them all and get them to one of the quilt shops. I appreciate you giving this to me.

MommaDorian 10-13-2010 05:31 PM

Because the the LQS is too far away for me to deliver, I mail mine to a local hosital's cancer center.

bezzie58 10-13-2010 06:27 PM

I have turned in 75 over the last few months and i have several more to take to my lqs. Yours are really cute and lovable

koko 10-13-2010 07:03 PM

A quilting friendship group I belong to made some for the local quilt shop that was collecting them. It's definitely a feel good project! You did a wonderful job making so many.

ruacajun2 10-13-2010 07:33 PM

I have 12 pillow case kits that I am making this weekend for my LQS.

Great job with the pillowcases, they are so colorful that I'm sure the kids will love them.

Hope your posting gets a few more quilters to make some pillowcases, doesn't need to be a lot - just whatever they can. If their LQS isn't taking part in the Million Pillowcase Challenge they can check out this website to find their local coordinator and/or drop off sites, ConKerrCancer.org

My guild is taking part in the Million Pillowcase Challenge through our LQS. We hold monthly pillowcase sew ins at our quild's meeting place and sew ins every other month at the LQS. Quilt shop's owner set a goal of 1,000 pillowcases for this year and we're almost there. All our pillowcases are donated to local hospitals and right now we're working on Holiday and Winter themed pillowcases so we have enough pillowcases for the Holiday partys each hospital holds for the kids and their families, everyone gets a new fun pillowcase. What a warm hearted thing to do. You deserve praise and blessings for donating so much!

May in Jersey 10-14-2010 11:54 AM

Re-read my posting above and realized that I made it seem as if ConKerrCancer was the only place to donate. If you check out the allpeople quilt site you can find info there and where you or your group may want to donate, hospitals, vets, shelters, wherever you choose is perfectly OK. May in Jersey
