Mini Professional Tote completed

This was on my "to-do" list for 2016. Used some of my Paula Nadelstern fabric that I'd been saving for who know's what!
While I found the instructions very good, with excellent explanations and pictures to guide one along, some of the tote features are not to my liking. I find the small patch pocket on the inside isn't deep enough to hold a pen, but not wide enough for me to reach inside if I were to keep my keys in it.
The closure for the inner pocket seems kind of superfluous, it's not a really big pocket and if you close it up halfway in width, I'm not sure what I'd keep in it. I'm also not sure I'll like the outside elasticized pockets if the elastic stretches out? I do like how well constructed the zipper process is, for both the set in zip across the top and the ones in the front and the inside.

First pic is the front, next is the back and the final one is a partial view of the inside.

As I heard around the house when I was little - "The proof is in the pudding" which means, I'll see how it is once I start to use it!

It really looks nice, and professional. I love the fabrics you used for it. :)

Love it! Looks really professional, but not stuffy.

lynnie 03-05-2016 05:52 PM

love your fabrics, and it's so roomy looking too. Great tote!

Nice color choices. Nice size. I hope it meets your demands. I too have chosen (bought) a really cute bag only to find out that its not very user friendly.

Very professional looking. Once you start arranging everything I hope it meets your requirements.

Monale 03-06-2016 03:23 AM

Great tote! This is on my bucket list, too!

LoriEl 03-06-2016 03:57 AM

I have had this pattern for years and am too afraid to start it! Yours is great looking!

Tartan 03-06-2016 05:07 AM

Great tote and well done!

coopah 03-06-2016 05:24 AM

You have my admiration. Not only for making a beautiful bag, but also for getting it done. I made the larger size. It only needs the topstitching around the top to be finished, but making it (I was in a class.) really cured me from ever wanting to make another. Congratulations on a beautiful bag. It does have every pocket you could ever want in it. :-)

Great job and wonderful fabric choices. I've wondered about those side pockets too. Not sure what I would put in them, but I do think they add to the overall design.

Monale 03-06-2016 06:05 AM

So far, I only know this tote from pictures, but I'm imagining that the side pocket would be ideal for a water bottle or an umbrella?

GEMRM 03-06-2016 11:46 AM

I find the outside - side pockets a very user friendly option on a bag - I make lots of bags....
Great for keys, phone, sunglasses or regular glasses, or a water bottle too.
This is the first pattern I've done that has used elastic to make them expandable, so we'll see how the elastic stands up to use.
The fabric choices were deliberate departure for my usual more "cutesy" type of fabric, as I wanted this to be a more serious/professional one.
Thanks for the compliments.
For anyone considering but afraid to attempt this - the directions and pictures are really very good, and taking a step by step approach leads to success.

well done and good commentary

QUILTNMO 03-07-2016 04:47 AM

very nice tote!!!

I love the big Professional tote and have been considering the smaller version. I might use the cords on the end pockets like on the big ones. I agree that the elastic may stretch out. Maybe just skip that center pocket? I'm going to have to shop for another pattern it looks like. LOL.

MargeD 03-07-2016 04:54 PM

I love it and the fabrics you used. Like all patterns, once I make something from a pattern, I find ways to change it, just like using recipes. But your tote is beautiful and professional looking.

Merrylin 03-07-2016 06:22 PM

Great tote! Your fabric choices are great.

twinkie 03-08-2016 03:53 AM

kaylfordsollimo 03-08-2016 05:18 AM

Looks great - and useful.

Claire123 03-08-2016 01:34 PM

I have the pattern and have been meaning to make the larger size. Yours turned out great!

JoyjoyMarie 03-09-2016 05:10 AM

That does look PROFESSIONAL!! What a pattern - and nice choices with your fabrics and detail!

sewbizgirl 03-09-2016 05:51 AM

Very sharp looking bag! Nice work.

Quilter 65 03-09-2016 05:57 AM

So love her fabric, but sometimes it takes a while to discover in what project to use it.

bjgallent 03-09-2016 06:30 AM

I have that pattern and have the regular one cut out. Yours looks great!!!

dakotamaid 03-20-2016 12:26 AM

I love these bags and I love, love your fabric. I know how time consuming they are as I have made 3. My daughter carries one for her teaching files. She gets more compliments on it. :)

quilterpurpledog 03-20-2016 02:44 AM

Perfectly beautiful bag! The fabric choices are striking and so well suited to the pattern chosen. Enjoy your bag.
