Seriously. I've never done a mini and made this one thinking on that category to be donated to the guild I belong. The guild auctions the donated minis and with that they finance classes and events for the group.
Now I am reading the Broward Quilt Expo guildelines and I am thinking mine wouldn't fit into the "mini" category.
What do you say?

Is this a mini? Measures 15" x 15"

This is what I found out for you. It looks like yours fits . I would say its a MINIATURE.

Miniature Quilts
A miniature quilt is a scaled down version of a large quilt, with blocks no larger than 4”. Applique if present on a miniature is also scaled down from a full size version and also must meet the 4” block size. The maximum size is 24” by 24”. Borders should be correctly proportioned to the block and quilt size. Fabric selection must be appropriate to the size of the pieces and are usually small scale prints, textures, and solids. A miniature is not a small quilt with full size fabrics or blocks. A small quilt may consist of a single block or a number of blocks that are greater than 4” on any side, but do not qualify as a miniature. Miniatures are hung by pinning to the back drop so no hanging sleeve is required. No framed miniatures will be accepted.

for me, a miniature quilt is anything smaller than 24x24 inches.

I love yours!

what do their guidelines say? If they reject yours you could always send it my way...

mom-6 01-16-2011 10:39 PM

Whether or not it 'qualifies' it is just adoreable and should bring a nice price at any auction.

I don't know what it is, but I really like it. I'd bid on it if I saw it in an auction for sure!

does your guild have guidelines to follow? being a mini seems to depend on the group of people involved. some believe a 'mini' is a normal (traditional) block made in minature...like resizing a 12 1/2" block to be a 4 1/2" block. other groups consider any (quilt) that is 24" or less...so it seems to be a matter of opinion and if you are donating yours to a specific group you should check with them to see what they have in mind. if it doesn't (pass) with them it would work great for a doll quilt or there are lots of charitable organizations that accept quilts like yours for fund raising auctions
