Lately, I have this obsession to use the trimmings from other quilt blocks. Is this packrat syndrome? I've made a few little doll quilts. Great practice for me. And look, I'm hand quilting one of them.

I don't think it's packrat... That's keeping it and never seeming to USE it. I think it's more a conservation thing. :) They look just great Chele, great work.

Great job Chele! I love your little quilts. I think that your handquilting looks very good too. Now make a big one so you can handquilt it!

Those are great Chele! Are they for you or are you going to sell them for an exhorbitant fee to some hoity-toity interior designer?!?

Minda 12-02-2008 10:45 AM

Chele,
They are sooooo cute, and your hand quilting is beautiful.

Chele, the little quilts are great! I want to make some :-)

Great job. You are putting the rest of us to shame is what you are doing. I have all of those pieces saved too. I just don't seem to get to them. Someday.

vicki reno 12-02-2008 11:58 AM

No I don't think pack rat. I think it is very creative.

Me I think must be the queen of all packrats. I packed up 9 big rubber totes full of fabric when I packed up the sewing room. Got most of it moved to the other house. How did I get so much!

You are being thrifty/green with your scraps is all! The quiltville frame of mind.

As long as you don't tell us you are making little quilts for the squirrels and mice to keep warm with, we won't think you are losing it. You are just making the most of your stash.

Love all your "little" quilts. Keep practicing your hand quilting - it looks great.

Quilt4u 12-03-2008 01:48 PM

I love them all. Something I need to do.

Izy 12-03-2008 02:01 PM

Chele, those are great, I love the idea of using up all the scraps, I cherish every little piece of fabric and don't throw anything away that is an 1" square or bigger, good on you for turning out something that might otherwise have ended up in the bin.

Your hand quilting looks great, I too have been learning to handquilt...it is NOT easy to get it looking half like you have done

mgshaw 12-03-2008 02:41 PM

Those are so cute!!! I have been saving all my little triangles to do something like this too!!

Barb M 12-03-2008 02:44 PM

Oh they are so cute! And make great table toppers too, or even tote bags...good for you! :)

Nita 12-05-2008 04:35 AM

Very nice, Chele. I have just the book for you: "Little Quilts All Through The House" by Alice Berb, Mary Ellen Von Holt, and Sylvia Johnson. It is from That Patchwork Place. Mine is a 1993 publication, but I bet it is still available and you can probably pick it up dirt cheap on Amazon.com. It has a nice variety of miniature quilts to make and is perfect for someone like yourself who actually puts her stash to good use. I applaud you, for both your wise use of "leftovers" and more importantly for the nice work you do. Think of your little quilts as small canvases of art. A GREAT way to show off hand quilting. You go, girl! Nita

Chele--these are great!

PALS65 04-29-2010 05:30 PM

Very cool. I love doing miniatures!!!

Harmony 04-29-2010 06:03 PM

I love your minis! I think your hand quilting makes them look like heirlooms! Maybe I'll do something like this--I'm always looking for small projects to do after I've finished a big project. I guess it takes time to gear up for another big quilt!

Love your minis!

wvdek 07-26-2010 07:02 PM

Chele, those minis are terrific. So, what ya gonna do with them? Use them for doll quilt swaps? At least you will be ahead of the game.

annette1952 07-26-2010 09:01 PM

So pretty!
