misappropriated potholders
2 Attachment(s)
I suddenly realized I was down to 2 potholders because my DH was hanging them where he could see them (and lots of other quilts) from his recliner. I reached into my orphan block drawer and pulled out blocks to turn into potholders. One even dated back to the second year of my quilting journey. I guess you would not be surprised that my DH grabbed two, so I'll have to make more! The first is the fronts.

Well that is such a wonderful idea. Making a potholder out of quilt squares. Love it! and I love yours. They all look so 'happy'. I see why hubby wants to look at them... lol
Those look great. Now hubby has 2 new things to look at & you have 2 new potholders to use. :)
great use of orphans
Thank you. I am now up to 4 potholders in the kitchen, down from a dozen a couple of months ago. My Oops blocks and orphans nearly always are incorporated into something, usually scrappy quilts.
I think that's cute that your hubby likes them so much he wants to hang them and look at them! :o
Aaahhh your DH is so sweet! Can you take a picture that shows his collection. What a fun potholders!

Too pretty to use in the kitchen. Nice way to use up some scraps. Tell hubby if he is taking your pot holders, he has to cook supper.
Sounds like he needs to take you fabric shopping.
Using the orphan blocks is a neat idea. |
How fun! And also great that your DH appreciates your artwork :)
Great way to use orphan/scrap blocks and batting scraps.
Great idea.
lovely hot pads.
Great use of orphan blocks. Your hubby must be very proud of your work and I can see why.
What a clever way to use up orphan blocks.
Very nice Idea. Your pot holders are lovely.
Be thankful your DH loves your work so much!! ;-) Mine loves my work too, and is always suggesting new projects to hang & display.
I need to start doing this, for the fun of pulling out cheery, new potholders as well as giving my orphan blocks new purpose. What do you use for batting?
I got tired of my grungy kitchen towels, so I bought a new set (on sale!) and am using the old ones to bat potholders. These potholders are thick enough to work really well. Since I know I'll do this, if I don't quite like a block for its original purpose, I just throw it in that drawer.

Good use for those orphan blocks
