I'm so excited to have this one done!
Do have a bit of handwork to finish still.

The quilting just wasn't cooperating so I decided to tie the patchwork and stitch in the ditch around the borders.

This is a housewarming gift for my friend's daughter who was injured in the explosion in West and has just gotten a new place to live.

And here's the back. I used a bunch of blocks that I had made then decided to do a different design.

How wonderful! You are very sweet to think of her this way!

tessagin 06-17-2013 06:26 AM

She's going to be very happy with it. Beautifully done. I can't believe FEMA is not going to help the city of WEST, TEXAS. A whole town wiped out and no help from FEMA. What a shame!

Great Job I love the colors, and I love tie quilts they are so soft and cuddly.

Tessagin - it wasn't really the whole town, but it was a several block area. You can't see any of the damage when you just drive by on the highway.

I do know several people who lost their homes, my former boss's inlaws among them. Fortunately his mother (who has become blind) was in a different care facility in Waco, not the one in West.

Misty was in the apartments across the street and is really lucky to be alive. And her son escaped injury entirely. If some of her deep cuts had been a fraction of an inch one way or the other. . .

I love your colors

Jennalyn 06-22-2013 11:37 AM

That looks so beautiful! I love the colorway you chose - jewel tones with a strong emphasis on purple and teal, my favorite! - and I hope that it brings her comfort.
