Hi - this is a small wall quilt I have made, I just have to bind the edges yet, the part I always put off doing, so they then become UFO's waiting for edges, poor things. I have used purchased embroidery designs, and photo on fabrics amongst the panels. I have a feeling I need something more happening in the dark brown panel at the bottom on the left on each end of the embroidery - ideas anyone?

beautiful piece.

Really nice. I have no suggestions cause I think it is perfect.

Your art quilt is lovely. Make more!
|
Are we seeing all the quilt? If so, then I don't think you need anything else. It looks wonderful.

pretty!

I love these kind of quilts, it looks terrific.

Looks good to me!
|
everyone seems to be in agreement. it's beautiful as is!
|
What a calming and personal wall hanging!

Nice design! If you really think you need something on the bottom left, how about adding something with gold to the edges to pull the gold from the center? Just a thought. Truly though, I like it just the way it is.

Lovely.

Thankyou everyone for your nice comments and input. Lori I think you may have a point, the gold lace design is sort of hanging in mid air, which is why it is bothering me I think. I will give some thought to what you said, it needs 'grounding' which is probably why I have not put the binding on yet.

That is awesome. I can't think of a thing it could need. It's perfect the way it is. Great job and thanks for sharing.

So pretty!

Very Nice!!! :D:D:D

I had hoped to pop into a Spotlight store today to look for some gold ribbon to link the piece in the bottom left corner, however the traffic was too thick and I had just picked my Mum up from a twenty seven hour train trip from Cairns to Brisbane, so I decided she needed a cup of tea more than I needed the ribbon. Perhaps tomorrow may yield something interesting to buy to put there:)

This is beautiful. The "plain" blocks are a resting place for the eyes. Perfect as it is.
|
Thankyou mimee4 - that is a good point you make there. I guess the reason I put it up for comment was that in my head I kept thinking "Is it finished yet, or should there be more to it?".
|
priceless.....keep it as it is....
|
I love it! BUT - I can see what you mean abou the gold 'floating' it does seem to end sharply - so what abou tsewing a scattering of gold beads on the ends of the embroidery to blur them a little??
Just a thought? BXX |
Beautiful!!

Beautiful.
Personally I'd bind it now, before adding more. If you get the binding color and fabric right, it may ground the floaty golden bit. If not you can still add more later. |
Thanks for all the wonderful comments, it really helps to see something through another's eyes. When you make something one is so 'close' to it that can be hard to see it in reality. I do appreciate the feedback very much! I want to make a series of these so I will keep your comments in mind when I design the next one.
