modern geometric quilt

Like all of you, I have a stash. This piece has always intrigued me and was disappointed when it didn't really work in the original quilt. So, it's been sitting and the other day I was playing on the computer and googled "modern quilts" and "big print quilts" and this pattern came up. I think this was a kit somewhere or just a pattern that could be bought.

The sashing is Moda's Grunge and was absolutely perfect. I'm hoping my brother will let me finish it for him and his family. I did have to reassure him that when i am finished, it could be thrown in the washer and dryer w/ no real special instructions. LOL!!!

Enjoy and thanks for looking!!

Finished size is 66x80 (brother is 6'8")

Perfect fabrics for that quilt. At first glance it looks like all the green bits are pieced but it is the way the fabric is printed. Very neat.

Great quilt! I love cutting up large scale prints into tiny pieces.

My sister also thought it was smaller pieced pieces from the one shot.

I haven't decided how i'll quilt it or what kind of backing, but i have some time to decide that.

Sometimes it takes time and patient to find the right pattern for a favorite fabric. It is amazing what you can view on Google Images!

I really like the soft color. Great quilt.

That is a beautiful quilt. Not usually given to the modern look, but I sure like it. I recently have purchased two pieces of the Grunge fabric in purple and an off white. So versatile and "blendable".

Great use of a large print into a modern interpretation. I am amazed at how nicely it works together. I hope the recipients will enjoy your lovely quilt.

Cool way to use ???? Fabric.....I have some on shelf, saving this pic for idea..what size sashing, 2 -/2" cut?

MargeD 05-05-2016 08:42 AM

Very nice, I love it.

ccthomas 05-05-2016 05:14 PM

Nice quilt.

117becca 05-05-2016 06:01 PM

Thanks for the complements....The sashing is 2" finished (2.5" cut). The smaller square is 6" finished (6.5" cut), the rectangle is 6x14 finished.

If you look closely, you will see the block consists of the 6x14 finished rectangle, 6" finished square and a 9 patch w/ the 2" finished squares to form a 6 inch finished size 9-patch.
