M sent me this quilt for LAQ. She made this as a farewell gift to her Pastor. There are photos, embroidery, and signature blocks from congregation members.....I know how special this quilt is....I think many of us church members know that feeling of seeing a beloved Pastor leave ....so I know all the LOVE that went into the process of making this quilt.
She asked that I place doves, hearts and crosses in the Side setting triangles other than that I could do anything else. I would never quilt over pictures...signature blocks ...or special embroidery...so I stippled in the white areas and outlined the photos...loops in the border. I quilted this on my INNOVA. No computer or pantograph quilting. I also used HOBBS poly down batting. Thanks for looking! back |
Another beautiful quilt. Congrats to both the piecer and the quilter.

What a tear jerker that will be when given! How thoughtful of the congregation. It's beautiful.

What a thoughtful gift for the pastor. Nothing like everyone being involved in getting a piece of the pie. Considerate and very appropriate idea.

wow that is a special one, great work!

Very pretty, the piecing and the quilting.

Charisma... do you ever feel that the quilts have too much quilting? They look so flat and stiff sometimes when there is ALOT of stitching... does that happen? Your stitches look so "planned" and very neat.

Very awsome job

If I am making a wall hanging or a show quilt....it should be quilted pretty heavily...it needs to lay flat and straight or it won't hang or show well.. I do try to plan all of my quilting....I think the quilting has to match the intent of the quilt and quilter. if it is a comfort quilt it needs to be comfortable.....a show quilt isn't going to be used on the couch with your kids and dogs..so it can be stiff....Above all I want to make my client happy...I NEED to know if my client likes heavy quilting...light quilting....if they hate feathers ect.... I try to meet those needs. Thanks for asking...and for looking! |
