Incredible...they're so beautiful
what state is that in?
first time i have EVER seen a bargello at an amish sale! usually see the old traditional patterns; i'm a little surprised--i guess they have to keep up with the times though... |
Please show some more pictures, will you?
That sale was in Clarita, Okla. The first set with the explanation apparently didn't go thru.
Beautiful quilts! Can't help but wonder at what thought is going through the mind of the Amish lady looking at you in the second picture.
Very beautiful! Were they spendy?
Such beautiful quilts. I want to get good enough to make quilts worth those kind of prices!

The Amish lady was concerned that she was in the way but I told her no I wanted her in the picture.
gorgeous
Was this what they call a MUD SALE? I went to one of those down by Lancaster, PA and it was fabulous! So many beautiful quilts I could hardly stand it. I bid on several and got the one I really wanted. It's all hand sewn and quilted and I love it. It was a steal too!
My first thought was that the women in the second picture are Mennonites. Amish women do not to my knowledge carry purses, wear bright colors, or allow their pictures to be taken. However, all my Mennonite friends are ok with the above mentioned. Maybe they are from a not so strict Amish order.
I too was amazed to see the bargello and some of the others you say are Amish quilts. Very interesting. |
In our area the Amish do not want to be photographed. I think from her look that is what she was telling you.
So Sorry

She definitely was opposed to that pic being taken! Surely the Bargello must be from a non-Amish vendor. I can hardly believe they do Bargellos. Quilts are beautiful! TFS the pics! :-D :-D :-D

I'm not sure about the Mud Sale, just that it is all kinds of auctions, poultry, furniture, etc and flea market type selling also. We were there several hours and did not see it all.
We saw several things there that indicated the Amish are easing their rules a little. These people there are Amish but they use tractors on their farms. Some of the more strict ones left because of it.
wonderful display ! thank you !
