My daughter is redoing an old house and painted her dining room cranberry red, beautiful! So I made her a set of new dinner napkins to have on hand for her Thanksgiving dinner. Here are two of them.

I made a set of those, have the finished project stashed somewhere! I know I had a pattern for them, they are very easy, but I can't remember how to do them now!

Yours are very nice and I'm sure your daughter will love them!

Yes, the napkins are beautiful. I wonder about the measurements also. Jenny Doan has a tute on the baby-size blanket. I assume it's the same technique but with different measurements. Will be watching for a clue.

Michellesews 09-15-2014 06:11 AM

Lynnie, if you go to you tube and search 'self binding baby blanket' the process is exactly the same only on a smaller scale.

Well! A Tute? I don't know about that, but you can watch the MSQC youtube tute on self binding receiving blankets. That's where I started. For the napkins, I removed the selvages and halved the fabric, about 21 inches each and then squared it. The smaller piece is 14 inches, giving me 3 per WOF. This gave me 17 inch napkins. I think you could go 10 or 12 inches on the smaller piece and still have decent sized napkins. Holiday fabrics make up great for these. I love to take them for a hostess gift, and I have some Halloween fabric set aside to be ready for the season. I'd love to see yours!

Very stylish....thanks Michellesews for the link.

I've made blankets and napkins with the Missouri Star video pattern, then came across this one. It is so much faster and easier. No cutting angles. No turning. Have made tons since. It's my go to pattern now, even for the baby blankets . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGESFvTYm6g.

(I'm thinking this isn't turning into a link, but it works typing or copying & pasting it into the address bar. Sorry.)

Those look great! I love the decorative stitching. I keep meaning to make some napkins, maybe this will be the inspiration that gets me going!

Love these. I've not seen this technique before. I'm planning another fall table setting. These would be great. Quick and easy.
