Last year I began a new tradition - to change a photo of a senior into a quilt for a grad gift.

Last year I had one grad, my nephew. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-54113-1.htm

This year his brother and 3 others from church graduated, so I have been a little busy. It is nice to have them done with, and can move onto something else.

Unfortunately, I don't seem to have the original photos that the quilts were made from. My daughter took all the pics, and always generously shares them for these projects and more.

my nephew, I forgot to cut out his name and date before taking the pic!

Those are wonderful.

Those are so cool. I bet the grads and the parents will appreciate them. How wonderful

That is so clever. How do you do the cut outs. I love the tassels used, too.

WOW what an awesome job you have done with these... You totally capture the person in these quilts.

What a brilliant idea!

Can you explain a little about the technique you use? Is it done with reversible applique? Or something else?

Those kids should be THRILLED with these personalized wall hangings. It's amazing how the personalities really come through in the images.

I don't have a picture to post, but for both my girls I made a simple 9 patch in their school colors and alternated it with white squares. The first one was 12" squares and ended up being HUGE so the 2nd I did 8" squares. I hung each on a wall with permanent fabric markers nearby. Everyone who came to their grad party signed them. I then finished and quilted after the party and they had it to take to college with them.
