Oh I so like both of these. The "log cabin squares" especially so. On the light colored "spacer" did you use a 2 1/2 by 4 1/2" piece or 2 2 1/2" squares?

I used 2 1/2 by 4 1/2 on top row, square on middle.

I had never seen a barn raising quilt. It is lovely!

These are so pretty but I LOVE the barn raising! :-)

I'm trying to figure out the block but I'm too tired tonight. Can you please explain some more? Is it 3 squares (med/dk), 2 squares (med/dk) + 1 light square, and 1 med/dk square + the light rectangle?

Just think simple 9patch. Top row one scrap square on the left, white in middle and right. Middle row two scrap squares left and middle, white on right. Bottom row all three are scrap squares.

Both are so pretty. I am making a scrappy 4" block quilt now, just all blocks, no stripping.

I love them. Can you tell me how you did the hearts on that second one?

The hearts are fusible appliqué. Just drew a heart then drew another slightly larger with scallop edges. For pattern used paper folded in half so when cut out both sides are,the same. Windowed the fusible so not to thick.
