These are a few more of the pincushions I have made. They are so much fun to make. I really don't have any patterns for them though. I tend to make things up as I go. The first two just "sit" and the last one "hangs" on a cork board behind my sewing machine so it doesn't take up any table space. Thanks for looking.

I know what you mean. I do that too, create out of the blue. Once I made a little old sewing Maid with an apron all the way down to her feet and covering a used Oatmeal container I used to store knitting needles and the apron had three layers of pockets all around her skirt. They were layered in a way that the top pockets were as long as her skirt and the middle ones were mid length and the third layer at the bottom half of her skirt were smaller lengths for thimbles, threads, etc. Her head I made out of a used plastic oval shaped panty hose containers they used to come in. I plastered that head for the face and her hair up in a bun. the hat was the maid hat shaped into a pincushion. I had her for years until she fell apart. ;)

How cute!! And what great gifts!!!
I see how creative everyone is and sometimes makes me wonder what happened to my 'creative energy' then realize that sometimes 'life' just gets in the way and I need to just leave it at the door of my sewing room!! Thanks for inspiring!! |

Those are each so cute Rosemary! And you just make them up as you go? Any collector would love them! I'm on a pincushion making binge myself. I think it would be nice to have a special interest section of the Quilting Board for pincushions:there are so many great ideas out there and they are so fun to make.
