Morning Star Block

Jenny Doan of Missouri Star Quilt company came out with a YouTube video on May 7, 2020, demonstrating the Morning Star Block: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4LMkiTJjso

The pattern is from Mod Block Magazine 2019 Volume 5: https://www.missouriquiltco.com/shop...-2019-volume-5

I decided to make this block in triadic colors to enter into the State Fair of Virginia's Barn Quilt contest.

That's a pretty block!

I watched her video and it looks pretty easy with the way they deal (or actually don’t deal) with inset seams. Another one for my bucket list!!

Great work. I am a big fan of the flange binding

What beautiful points! I always have a hard time with diamonds.

Cool block!

That's a beautiful star block! Thanks for the link.

How would that pattern be modified to make a 12 1/2" unfinished block?

Very nice block and thank you for sharing the link.

I watched the video and immediately had to give it a try! Here it is! I'm pretty happy wth it. The only thing I did different is press the four quadrant seams open, otherwise the bulk was going to be too much. Another time with a print fabric for the center, I think it would be better if I fussy cut those pieces.

It came out wonderful! Isn't it nice seeing all those points matching up?
