Great idea to "pretty up" a basic calendar. Love all the fabrics for both projects.

I love both. If you share the pattern, may I be on the list to receive. It is so cute that I know several of my sewing friends that would enjoy having it.

I would love to have more information on your calendar holder too. I had plans to make one but haven't yet. I was going to do mine a little differently though, based on a paper one that I bought several years ago from the Hallmark store.

The calendar is on top and it has a pocket underneath the calendar to hold your monthly bills, etc. You could then do quilting or embroidery on the pocket and maybe a decorative border around the calendar part. I loved my paper calendar like this so much that when I couldn't find them anymore I taped a new calendar on it for two years in a row, lol! It was so cute, you couldn't tell that I had cheated, lol!!

Ok here are the instructions for the calendar holder. I hope you are abel to figure them out. Enjoy and have fun with them, post pics so I can see what you come up with.

Quilted Calendar Holder

Materials Needed:
Heavy muslin or canvas
Heavy weight interfacing
12 ½” block of your choice
Sashing & pocket material
Batting
calendar

Cutting Sizes:

Muslin or Canvas 13 ¼” X 24”
Heavy weight interfacing 13 ¼” X 24”
Sashing 2” strips
Pocket material 15¼” X 12”
Batting 13 ¼” X 13 ¼”
Pen holder

Make quilt block desired, sash sides then top and bottom.
Hem bottom of block up 1”.
Hem top of pocket material up 1”.
Lay backing with interfacing on top, place batting on top portion of interfacing, place quilt block on top of batting-leaving 1” overhang on sides and top, now place the pocket material on the bottom portion of interfacing-leaving 1” overhang on bottom & sides and top over the bottom hem of the quilt block.
Pin to hold sandwich together.
Roll the overhanging fabric to back to form the binding & sew.
Quilt as desired on your quilt block, embellish, etc.
Make you pen pocket and sew in center bottom of the calendar pocket.
I cut a piece of cardboard to fit into the calendar pocket to stiffen it up and then inserted the calendar.
