I made this as a little surprise for a friend but my binding is alittle dippy and one corner is not perfect. Would you send it anyway? or make a new one.....Would you be happy with it if you received it? BTW the friend LOVES the color orange. Please be honest!

i love it!!! i too am in the process of making mug rugs and my binding leaves a lot to be desired. i had thought of using buttons also but wasn't sure how it would look. you have inspired me to go in there and get them done.

I think it looks great. I'd love to receive it. I really like all hte embellishment you have used. I have so many things and never think to use them.

Actually, I believe that it looks cute all wonky, like you planned it that way!!

It's too cute not to send - she'll love it.

Just a thought - don't know if you can 'block' it with starch now that it is all bound. I'm been successful with a single square but never tried this method on a finished project. Maybe someone more knowledgeable out there can advise.

I would send it. It's pretty and I think your friend will LOVE it. I know I would!

Lynnejean, I think it is darling. The thought of you thinking of your dear friend and the colors she likes makes it perfect. Sometimes we are too hard on ourselves! I know if someone thought of me and made one in my favorite colors I would be so happy to receive the thoughtful gift.

First of all I would love it if a friend sent that to me-wonky or not. That's not what I would see when I looked at it.
Second if you are really bothered by the wonkiness you might try to steam block it. (As long as none of the threads or fabrics in it will be damaged by the heat and steam) On a pressing surface like your ironing board or pressing mat, outline a rectangle of the right size. You could draw it on freezer paper and then lightly press the freezer paper to the ironing board. Steam the mug rug well from just above it (not actually pressing it), then while the mug rug is still damp and warm from the steam, place pins along the perimeter, stretching it a bit where needed to make it match the outline on your freezer paper. Leave it in place with the pins until it dries. Kind of like blocking a sweater. Make sure your pins are of a metal that won't rust. (But again, I don't think you really need to do that-your friend will love it the way it is!!)
