Mug Rugs for year end teacher gifts
1 Attachment(s)
This year my boys wanted me to make cupcakes for their teachers - I had sent in cupcakes once to the teachers and they went crazy over them - and I felt it just wasn't enough so I decided to make mug rugs - and put quick corners for hanging on the back just in case they wanted to hang them instead.
None of the teachers knew what they were so I had to explain it. I guess mug rugs are truly only a crafty thing right now. Literally none of them knew what they were - and I gave them to 8 teachers! Here are the pictures... I made extras since I let them pick out the ones they liked. The rest will be going to the Alzheimer Art Quilt Initiative. I have a few jars left, one of the red coffee fabric squared and the purple one. The birds were the first to go. I wish I had made more of those. I just ran out of energy and drive. The gnome has berry fabric for his hat and shirt :) He was picked by one of the teachers. I'm not sure what I'll do next year now... I have almost a year to figure it out. :D |

Great, I like them all but especially the birds.

Very nice and I really like the gnome.

I think they are cute. I bet they liked them after they learned what they were!! Maybe if you had wrapped them around a mug they would have guessed. heheheh! It was a nice gesture.

great idea for end of the year gift .... and mug rugs are always fun to make. Beautiful ones you made there!

Those are really cute but you know teachers appreciate gift cards to Starbucks, MacDonald's, Wendy's, Subway etc. more than tangible gifts. My daughter has received over 50 mugs, small ceramic pieces etc. Teachers have storage problems too. The children love to shower them with gifts. Maybe a larger present from the whole class would be a more thoughtful thank-you.
