My husband is going into the hospital on Sunday for heart bypass surgery. I was looking for a lightweight purse to use while he was in hospital. Its such long trek from the room to the cafeteria or just to take a walk outside. So I was needing something that I could keep my cash, a credit card and my driver license and keys in without it being a heavy "everyday" type purse. I think this would make a great passport purse or for someone who's traveling and doesn't want to keep up with a purse. This bag hangs over one shoulder and across the body. So its a hands' free purse and yet the items are securely in the purse because of the zipper. I used a wallet pattern from about.com and the small bag from http://obsessivleystitching.blogspot.com. The original bag was made from a potholder, I used her zipper instructions but layered fusible batting and two layers of coordinating fabrics. Hi! Thanks everyone for the good thoughts and prayers, we need them! We both feel very fortunate that the problems were found before it was serious and he was recovering from a heart attack or stroke. DH know what the symptoms were and went to the dr.!

Glad to see that you and hubby both plan ahead or take care of things as they come along. Are you planning on taking a hand quilting project to keep your mind occupied during the waiting times? If you have time and the same fabrics you could make a cute matching tote bag to carry a project in. Just a thought. Prayers going out for you and your hubby to have a speedy recovery. |

I love this bag. Years ago! I mean years ago! I started a "quilt as you go" quilt and never finished it. You have inspired me to get it out and finish it. I did do a wooden chair seat cover in the diagonal and it turned out great!
Good luck to your husband and take care of yourself. The "care giver" needs care also. |
