1st....Gorgeous quilt....love scrappy quilts. However, I can't get my mind too scrappy...still do organized scrappy for me. Love how you did 1/2 square scrappy. :)
2nd..If I understand...you just grabbed 2 strips and sewed it together. You didn't use a foundation (paper) for attaching the strips together. Why do some patterns have you use foundation paper to sew 2 strips together and some do not?
Have a great day!

The blocks are 61/2 in unfinished. Strips are all different sizes. Just grabbed one and sewed.

ontheriver, you have done a marvelous job of using colors. With the few darker triangles, the blocks do have movement. Thank you for sharing this treasure. I, too, am attempting to use scraps and what I have on hand. It will be nice to see your creations throughout the year. :)

I took a piece of solid and sewed strips on one side until it was larg enough to fit my 61/2 in square ruler on point. I made sure the center diag line was on the seam between solid and first strip then cut around. Result HST'S half and half. No foundation but did starch well before cutting the square. This way I did not have to sew any triangles or worry about size of strips. You can also use shorter lengths of strips as you build out.
