How the heck do you get a center like this to line up?? I have to say, I am in love with chain stitching. It is such a time saver! :)

Only with very precise cutting, accurate 1/4 inch seams, and iron the seams to the dark fabric. When you line up the seams in the middle row, they will lock in place because the seams will be going in opposite directions.

By the way, I love your color selection. The black looks so nice you don't even notice the center.

I stick a pin through the center joining points on each block and then pin about 1/8" from it. Sew just past the seams and then remove the pin.

I think it looks great. Keep it up.

I had a problem last night also couldn't get my points to come out, so I used a pin and it worked great. I guess just practice, practice, practice

First of all, it looks great for just a 2nd block!!!!!!! You did really well!

Second, I've learned the joy (and pain) of using forked pins to match up seams. The joy is that, if you do it correctly, you always have matched up seams. The pain is I haven't managed to learn how to do it correctly with every seam. But most of them work.

If you have questions about how forked pins work, pm me, and I'd be happy to help.

I don't even know what forked pins are :) But I am doing a search right now!
