Your quilt is beautiful. I believe that this one is my favorite of all of this type that I have seen. It really looks like stained glass. (Don't you just love those Batiks?) Absolutely gorgeous. I love it whatever you do. I think I would just make this one larger. It really is stunning. Yolanda Wood River

That quilt is beautiful...make more blocks if you can...if not, the piano key border sounds good!

Really pretty! How much bigger do you need it? I think it would look cool to add the brick shapes, kind of like a large piano key border all around the perimeter. I would use the same size black in between the body of the quilt and the piano keys.

I think it is beautiful. Lap quilt, make bigger or send it to me!! HaHa.
love it..if you want or need it bigger do a nice black "framing" border then I would get the brightest print in it and do a wide ..lik10" border..jmo

Stunning quilt
I really love your quilt. I think 12 fabrics would have made it look very busy, and I like the simplicity of the five colors. Great choices of colors. They really pop! What is the name of the pattern?
I love the quilt and the colors you have used. Makes a great quilt.
It is beautiful!
Very pretty quilt. I think it's well worth it to keep on with this one!
It's gorgeous. I love the fabrics. Whatever you decide, it is just too pretty.
A beautiful quilt!
It is So beautiful. It will look wonderful with nothing done except binding. The colors are so vivid it really stands out as is.
Beautiful and would look really nice larger. Keep trying. Piano borders sounds okay.

I would add on to that one. It is easy to see where the block is, so try to figure if it will work by adding a row of blocks, one way or both directions? if not maybe you can make it bigger by adding the black all the way around and a border of one of those gorgeous batiks
Wow, I like it. What if you framed it in a slightly larger black, then added the piano keys or more squares. Then a black binding. Can you tell I like black? haa
I love the stained glass look. |
Love the colors. Great job. Can't wait to see it finished.
Your quilt is beautiful!
What wonderful colors!
I love your fabrics very eye catching.
I LOVE your quilt! So bright & cheery. Have seen several like this but don't know the pattern name. What is it, please?? Have a large stash of batiks & could really whittle it down w/this pattern. Thank you.
I like it just as it is. I would even go as far as not putting a border on it.
Love the brightness. Great quilt!
It's gorgeous. The wonderful thing about batiks and hand-died fabrics is that you can get many different looks and patterns from the same fabaric. I love the quilt and since you say you have more fabric, I would simply add more blocks and maybe a narrow border with piano key fabrics and maybe another border. Any way you finish it, it will be beautiful.
That is stunning, I would add more blocks as it looks easy enough to do....
Would love to see it when your done...bet it will be breath taking!!! |
Why not make the same number of blocks and just add them to this one? same number of pieces of each fabric..Then add the blocks..and then the borders...This is beautiful!...I love the colors..

Thank you all very much for all the lovely comments and advice.
Several have asked about the pattern. It is called "Asain Scrappy Road". It was in the Oct 2011 issue of Quilter's World Magazine. I've got to check the amount of fabric I have left and make sure I have as much as I think I do. I've decided to make more blocks and aim for king size. I'll use wider strips for the inside border and the outer border and that will help plus I like the idea of the piano key border and hope to use that too. I'm glad it is a fun quilt to work on. I'll post a picture after I get the top done. Have a nice day. Shirley |
Beautiful! As is, made larger, with or without borders! I really like just the five batiks you used. Twelve would surely be lovely too, but now you have an original.
I think it is perfect like it is. Make it king size and do the piano keys border as suggested and then be sure to show it.
It is AWESOME as it is!!! Love your choice of colors!!!
Thank you Shirley, I appreciate your IM!
It is beautiful. Add a border of black all around, then more of the smaller rectangles if you need to increase the size. And another border of black.
Wow--that is gorgeous! It's perfect as a lap quilt--any sized quilt--but keep it! lol
It is beautiful. Love all the colors you used. I would make more blocks to add to it & make it to fit your bed. It will be fantastic when it is finished. Good job girl.
It is wonderful. WHETHER YOU EXPAND IT OR MAKE A LAP QUILT OF WHAT YOU HAVE< IT WILL BE A FINE QUILT>
that is stunning! whatever you do, it will be amazing
What Tartan said!

Gorgeous, where did you get the pattern? Is the black just strips cut to various lengths?

The pattern is called "Asain Scrappy Road". It was in the Oct 2011 issue of Quilter's World Magazine. The black is kona cotton and is cut to various lengths to fit the blocks. |
What is the name of your pattern? I have seen it before and loved it but can't remember the name. Looks as if it could be easily drafted but that is not my area at all!! Thanks
