That's the way I prefer to do a binding. And I don't mind the hand sewing at all.

Did you say it was your first try? You did a great job. I dont think it really matters which way you bind the quilt - I doubt I would even notice binding with such a great quilt!!

For me, it is easier to sew the binding to the back, pull it around to the front and top stitch it. Looks good to me.

Lovely stain glass wall hanging and sewing the binding to the front by hand is just fine.

It looks super !!! Nice first try. And don't worry about hand sewing the binding onto the front of the quilt. When I put minkie, or fireside or fleece or a polyester backing on my quilts, I always sew the binding onto the back of the quilt. The polyester backing is hard to sew by hand, and not to many people notice that I have changed anything !! Yours will be just fine too !!!
