Every time I finish a quilt top I go ahead and make the binding. That way, when I FINALLY get the top quilted I have the binding ready to go. I keep all my binding in a jar so that I know where it is when the time comes.

Here is a picture of my binding jar--and yes, I do have that many tops finished that need to be quilted!!

LOL... that is a great idea. I imagine it cuts down on procrastination to get something bound... or not. And you know that you have the material for the binding and don't use it in another project.

That's cute I've got a binding draw ...just waiting on those quilts....

I usually make up my binding ahead of time as well Nothing more satisfying than finishing quilting a quilt and then slap on the binding for a later handstitch finish. I don't have a cute jar to put them and I am not really good at marking which quilt they are for. Currently I have 6 ready bindings waiting............I have more UFO's than that but that's another subject!!!

I love it!!!! I never thought about a jar! I usually just hang the strips I cut for the binding on a pants hanger until I am ready for it, the jar idea is much prettier!! :D

I wrap my binding (and bias strips) around a toilet paper tube, a paper towel tube, or the tube that comes from wrapping paper. It works wonderfully and the binding and bias strips don't get creased. I hadn't thought of using the glass jar. My glass jars are all filled with threads I'm using for various applique projects. I just love those glass jars!

What a great idea. I tend to put it aside then forget and either use it for something or loose it altogether.
Now to go out and buy a nice big jar.
