She's a beauty! My great grandmother taught me on a similar machine. So wish I knew who had that machine. Loved the sound of it. I have a couple of old Singers, but they are both electric. Still, love the sound of them humming along. Enjoy her. I know she is glad to be useful and loved again after the neglect she has suffered. Lots of life left in these little jewels.

I think the paint is in the pheasant design, and as far as I can tell from the serial number, it was manufactured in Elizabeth, New Jersy in 1910. The paint is not in best shape, but it is still so pretty, and I'm so glad to finally have one! Here are some photos. |
I like to sew appliques on a treadle machine - anything fine and that needs exact placement of stitches...Tip your feet, the needle goes down...if the stitch isn't right, tip your feet the other way and the needle goes back up!
And you don't have to move your hands! J I don't know of any new fancy sewing machine that does this, because you have to use your hands to use the switches J |
Beautiful! I have always wanted one myself and finally got one just a few weeks ago. I now have an obsession for vintage sewing machines. I bought a second treadle this past weekend and just got delivery from Ebay on a Singer 66-6. This one is in a box with the rounded top. Not in very good shape at all but I just love it. Hope you have fun with it!
