I floundered with this quilt-as-you-go for way over a year. But it is for my daughter so I DID have some motivation to get it finished. 25 hand-quilted roses and 25 machine quilted butterflies....the dark border that you see may show up as deep blue, but it is a purple. I'm not sure I should have gone as dark as I did, but it is what it is! I have only to quilt something in the gold section of the border and bind it!
Should I machine quilt something (would have to be some sort of lines? Hand-quilt flowers? Applique flowers or butterflies? Thanks for looking and for any input/suggestions. I will post the back of the quilt (I pieced it together block by block LOL, lots of hand sewing involved). :) |
Beautiful! It's easy to see you have put a lot of love into it!

June Wolpert discovered this pattern in 1962 when Dover Plublications reprinted 101 Patchwork Patterns, a collection of patterns created by McKim Studios of Indpendence, Missouri. Ruby S. McKim, owner of McKim Studios, syndicated a newspaper column of quilt patterns during the 1920s and 1930s". This is my third quilt from the book, and am working on the 4th! (Only my third bed-sized quilt ever). I have however, made ALOT of baby quilts over the past 2 years LOL. They are far easier to quilt!!! |

Beautiful quilt. I love the back too! I do not think the purple is too dark...it is perfect!
As far as the gold border, maybe cross hatch, or a cable pattern. That is very classic for this type quilt. |
