My cartoon stars top finished--YAHHHHHHH
2 Attachment(s)
A few weeks back, I posted a couple of star blocks made from a Looney Tunes fabric, using the stack and whack process. Well, I have finally gotten all 36 blocks sewn together. I only used 20 of them for this top, so will have enough for a second top. Not sure what I will do with it, but can always find someone who can use a lap quilt. This top ended up measuring 60x90, which is good, because it will go to one of my grandkids, who are 5`10 or taller, and they are girls. I did include the last 4 blocks of the original material, to always know what the stars came from. Enjoy looking.

Oh I love, love, love how you included full cuts of the fabric used in the quilt. Very nice!!!

Love your quilt! I'm glad you used a full cut of your fabric too. I always wonder what fabric was used to create such a great quilt block. Now I know.
|
Cute! Haven't thought of a stack and whack with this type of material..can't get past using flowers.
|
Love it. Nice to include the original fabric.
|
very nicely done!!!

This is so kool. I am probably older that you but can I be a older grandchild? You did super. BrendaK

Very neat!

I really like how the blocks turned out. This looks different from other stack and whacks or OBW's. Can you give me a brief overview of what your process was? It looks like 8 layers of fabric and did you make diamond shape cuts and then the background fabric is attached using Y seams?

That is so pretty. Love anything that is stacked n whacked.
|
Your quilt is beautiful! Love the fabric you used!
|

Very cool quilt! Love that you included the original fabric.

You are exactly right. 8 layers of fabric, and I have the ruler to cut them all the same size and then I figured out that I wanted the side pieces to make the star "float" so I cut them bigger than would normally be cut. I have issues with getting this block to come out right, and not cutting off the tip of the stars when I square them up. This is the second quilt that I have done in the past 12 months, and so I am getting better at the Y seams and really don't mind them. Hope that this helps you. Thanks for the comment

WOW that is very pretty. Who would have known what the fabric was.

I've never seen a stack and whack that I've liked, before today. I really like yours. It has such movement! Thank you for posting a picture and also for showing what the original material looked like. I've never seen that done either! Nice work.

The Y seams were one of the first things I noticed - beautifully done! The whole quilt is gorgeous.

Just TOO cute. Good job on your S&W squares !!!

Beautiful S+W quilt. And, as others stated, using the actual fabric in the border is a great idea.
