Unbelievable! Beautiful work. Congratulations on completing your quilt.

Your quilt is beautiful, Is the entire quilt hexagons or just the flowers? I can't tell by the picture. I am finishing my grandmothers quilt that she started with hexagon flowers. That is why I was wondering. I had to take the ones that she had together because the material was raveling so bad there was no way I would be able to put it together that way. I am just making the flowers and am going to applique them onto muslin.

Thanks for posting it,

I machine-quilted all the hexes to the batting and backing but hand-sewed all the hexes together (1501)!

ozarkmama 04-07-2010 05:14 PM

What a beautiful quilt. And how did you get it done so quickly! Started a year ago and finished already. I am so impressed. You have given me hope for myself and how slow I am.

What a beautiful quilt! You did a great job. I made one started in Jun 1995 and finished Feb 1997. I was still working full time, so it took awhile.

An heirloom--have you labeled it for future generations to know all about it?

Pam 04-08-2010 06:56 PM

Oh, that is so beautiful. How clever are you!
And your colours are gorgeous.

I am interested to know how long it took you. I have just started my GG journey and wonder how long I should set aside for this. I am using all Civil War fabrics on a light beige/grey background.

Well done again.

Yes, I did. I made sure that I did because while I was making it, I thought that I will never finish it and decided that I may as well label it in case I don't complete another one. LOL! Thanks for looking at my quilt.

Thank you. It took me ten months to complete it; I had to put it aside when I was feeling frustrated fitting it into my Brother PC6500; when I travel, and during the holidays. But I kept at it and I was so happy when I finished it. I enjoyed selecting the colors and played with a lot of color combination. I think the phases I enjoyed the most were the planning of the design, selecting the fabrics and the color combination. Have fun on your GG journey! I am having great fun on mine. Cheers!
