My crayola quilt
2 Attachment(s)
A while back, I asked how to get iron scorch out of block...I was successful...it is the two tiny red flowers in upper left corner. Had these blocks for hand embroidery for years-- saw tute for crayon quilt here, and went for it. Hand quilted "as you go", and machine emb'd borders. Had so much fun.

Looks gorgeous and ready for Spring.

Wow! You are talented. That looks terrific.
Very beautiful. You did a wonderful job. My DM did one of state birds when I was very young and I always loved it.
That is both unusual and pretty. Glad you were able to get the scorch marks out. Someone will love this quilt!
It’s beautiful! Love the soft vintage feel.

Beautiful quilt, glad you were able fix the scorch mark. Which method did you use?

This is beautiful!!! Great job!
Just lovely! Very impressive art work...
I am confused did you draw the flowers using crayons? I know that there was a process years ago that you did that and then heat set it sometimes more than once. Which ever way it's done the quilt is lovely.

I'd had the 'pre-stamped for hand emb' blocks for several years--had decided to put them in garage sale until I saw the crayon colored quilt and tutorial here. I tho't, "what's to lose?" So I got out my crayolas and ironed the blocks to freezer paper...sat at a wood tv tray, and became a child again. You can prob see the stamped lines on the blocks--it has not yet been laundered. However, the pattern lines do not bother me and I am searching my stash for more possibilities. I'm told (by a friend) that I should wash in cool water with mild soap, but I see no reason it cannot be put in the dryer, as it was heat set anyway. |
What a nice save all the way around...it is a beautiful quilt.
You've done a fine job with your colors and also with the hand quilting.
Beautiful and I love the hand quilting!
Absolutely beautiful! I am glad that you didn't give up on this and had so much fun. This is really a treasure!
very pretty. Looks so springlike.
great quilting
Came out nice.

Wild like to hear how the crayon holds when you wash it. I have used crayons and heat set. I also made sure I pre washed out Ll sizing and have used poly/cotton blend and all cotton. Crayon seems to fade when washed unless I brush over with fabric medium

Very nice. I like the soft colors.
