Here are some more sections that I have embroidered.

Thank you once again for the great response, this is what makes all of you so special. You inspire me to get on and get this one completed. It is an enormous journey as this will be 250x250cm (double bed size) and the blocks are 50x50 cm each and there are 25 blocks in all.

Really enjoying the close-ups - feel a trifle guilty though, because snapping pics and posting is taking you away from your project:). I think I would have a huge problem with diversity.....which you seem to have sorted....your elements work really well together but you have so much going on...love the wheat sheaves and the tractor and the "rainbow wreath" bit around the white roses.
Thanks so much for the close-ups, your blocks are great! What a wonderful quilt you'll have when you're done. I tried to do one when I was a kid, but messed up royally, I didn't realize you could use less than the whole 6 strands of floss so I did all this labor intensive stitching and it looks lke a 10 year old did it (I think I was in my 20's at the time, way before the internet). I still look at it and cringe every time I accidentally run across it. You, definitely won't have that problem. I like the beadwork you've done, it's going to be beautiful.

I love love love this quilt. It gives me inspiration for my scraps. Thank you
I love crazy quilts, and this one is really something very special and beautiful. Good job! It's obviously a labor of love, and a family heirloom in the making.
Not only is that a crazy quilt; it is a work of art. Congratulations.
What a true labour of Love and Passion. Something that will still be wowed over in 50 years plus. You should definitely put the start and finish date on the label on the back. Will show to future generations who maybe are not quilters, to realise just how much time and work went into it.
I can understand why it would never leave. You couldn't put that much work and love into any item and not want it to be passed down to your children. I know I would only be able to put that much of my life and be able to stitch true beauty into something for my own children. |
Awe thank you all for the lovely comments. Its always great to share with people who appreciate handwork. This is what makes you all so special. Thank you once again. Will be showing when completed.
That is gorgeous!!! Nice job!!!
wow that looks awesome.
Thanks for the lovely compliments! You are all a great inspiration to me to get this crazy done. I am nearly done just embroidering a few more seams. In fact its the last seam of joining the 2 sections together. Its so hot here at the moment we are into temps above 40*C and its very difficult to work with the crazy quilt on my lap.
Please put up pictures when you get it done. We've got 8 inches of snow and are expecting 5 to 8 inches more tonight.

I have taken a picture of the whole quilt lying at my feet, busy with the last joining seam embroidery. It feels amazing having all 25 blocks together. I feel uhm rich and special to have something like this done by myself for my family to enjoy many years from now. Will be having a show soon. Also added a picture of when I stitched the 2 large pieces together. Still unreal for me after working at this for over 3 years now.

I have added some more pictures to my album Susan's Journey
You have inspired me to finish my crazy quilt that my mom started as she sat in the hospital while my dad recieved his cancer treatments several yrs ago. I get it out once in awhile, but just put it away. Hope mine looks as good as yours or at least comes close...Thanks for sharing
