she turns 13 next week and this is probably the last time I will be able to get away with anything like this...but when my kids were little we watched a movie called "Totoro" about a billion times! When Maggie was about 3 she had Mae ponies (pig tails) just like the little girl in the movie ~ so in honor of her being 13 I made her a remember me quilt of her favorite movie. The black circles will be fringed when I'm done to turn into "dust bunnies" or soot sprites as they were in the movie....I hope she likes it. I hand drew everything....I don't think I've ever been so nervous about a quilt before. =)

I'm always amazed by how attached my grown daughter still are to the books and movies we saw when they were little. This will be a wonderful remembrance for her. It's very special!

My 22 year old is the same way! She's the artist in the family so I expect her to be a little tender hearted. =)

btw..your quote " it is what it is" is a classic around our house. My husband's favorite! =)

I love it! My brother and I used to watch that movie all the time! (I'm 21 now and he's 17), and I look for the movie every time I visit my mom's house and have yet to find it. I'm sure she'll love it!

We found the movie on eBay...You have to make sure you get the original and not the remake...(not as good)

I found the inspiration for the graphic on
