some may remember my grandson Joey (12 yrs old)has been designing on EQ5. I posted some of his designs awhile ago.
Here are some of his earlier designs http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-86938-1.htm http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-87046-1.htm This last weekend he asked me to help him write a tutorial so he can learn to write patterns. Here is his first attempt. We would like any feedback so he can have an idea of what he needs to improve to make it viable to use as a pattern I do know we will have to figure out yardage but other than that any suggestions are more than welcome! I know he has more to learn and will make some improvements as he goes. ______________________________________ How to Design Your Own Quilt Step one. Go to worktable and click quilt, then click quilt next to libraries. After that click new quilt. Now that you have a blank quilt go to layout and make it 3 blocks by 3 blocks. After this remove the sashing. Step two. Go to the block library. Get the following blocks: corner 4B,shoo fly,and greek cross. Step Three. place blocks according to the diagram Quilt - Quilt Layout Shoofly Layout Greek Cross Layout Corner 4B Layout This is one version I did on my EQ. Good work!! Keep going. Maybe explain each step...placement of blocks, etc. A lot of us on here have the software but haven't used it much, so are not real familiar with each step. I know it will be tedious, but for those of us who are not EQ savvy, it would be a great help!!

Wow, that is awesome, thank you thank you thank you

would probably be wise to state what program the tute is for(EQ7). where exactly you find what you're looking for. also something about coloring &saving patterns "helpful hints"---ohhh!and whether we are rotary cutting direction, PP, or adding seam allowances. just little things.

I think your grandson has a great future in no matter what he undertakes! One suggestion in the tute would be to put those clicks in brackets...i.e. "new quilt" or NEW QUILT OR (NEW QUILT)so we would know that it is a phrase or button to click in a drop down menu. He is so far ahead of his time...or I'm waaaay behind

How (exactly) do I remove the sashing?

I think it is a great attempt for a beginning technical writer! Yes, there is actually a field that teaches how to write manuals, technical specs and research articles. Looks like he may be heading toward a career that joins both quilting and writing.

I think it looks very good. Haven't sat down and actually tried it, but he is very talented.

Keep up the good work, I think you're getting the hang of it! You make the designs and people will make them!

Good work, how neat is that.

thank you all! I will call him and have him come read your kind comments.
