Super dooper! How did you get the drawing to do it?

wilson 07-26-2011 06:43 PM

You start with a photo of your dog. You then print it out as a blk/wht photo onto paper the size you want. Kinkos or on your own printer. Mine is about 16 x 20. Lay velum over the top and draw your pattern from the different values on the photo. from this you get your applique pieces. I started with the whole shape of my dog as one fabric and build the other colors onto it. If you get the eyes positioned right the rest will look great. Some of the whiskers and hair are quilted in. Of course this is just a summary of how its done. It was a lot of fun and I am very pleased with how it turned out.

thseabreze 07-27-2011 04:28 AM

wonderful outcome for this one! You didn't say, but is Keara a wire fox terrier? I have 2...and am wondering if you did this free hand, or did you have a pattern?

#1piecemaker 07-27-2011 04:37 AM

Amazing!! I wish I could do something like that. I'd be dangerous.

wilson 07-27-2011 04:41 AM

Keara is a wheaten terrier. The picture was done off of a photo that I took of her, that was enlarged and then drew the pattern from that.

applegramma 07-27-2011 04:42 AM
