My effort at an ugly fabric challenge
2 Attachment(s)
The fabric wasn't really ugly, but it was a difficult one to work with. I sat and looked at it for a while. Squinted my eyes and found I saw horses everywhere. hmmm.... why not? Not sure what to call it. It is kinda alien and the horses are equine-like but not necessarily horses.

Very cute! Great job!
Wow! Love your design. Great work!
Looks great..

What cool use of that fabric ... Only since you mentioned it, I can see the horses! Because the mountains look like pyramids, I would call it "When Isis Created the Horse". Isis is the Egyptian goddess of nature and magic ...
I love that fabric, abstracts always appeal to me. Don't think I would have seen horses if you hadn't mentioned them. Great response to difficult challenge. Who is the maker of that fabric, I think my stash is calling for some of it.

Impressive - my imagination wouldn't have taken me there, but I do think it's a terrific answer to the challenge. Good luck if there are prizes!
I don't see any "ugly". Looks great!
thanks for all the nice comments... I was a little afraid that it might not be good enough to submit for the challenge, but I sent the photo in tonight.
isn't it funny how we see things differently. i have used this fabric as a border on an asian fabric with koi. all i saw was the perfect color and looked like fish scales.
you have used it perfectly. |
Your design is very nice.
I love the uniqueness. The 'horses' do jump out at you, don't they!
That is so very cool. I agree with Nativetexan it looks like something out of a dream. I have that same fabric in a steel blue color. I just saw waves when I looked at it. But once you mention horses I do see them.
Oh Yea! A great art quilt! And delightful imagination. Thanks for posting your quilt.
So cool! You really rose to that challenge!

You met and exceeded the challenge. Love it. Sometimes it is hard to think outside the box, but the results are definitely worth it. Good luck!

Cute quilt - I can see how you saw horses in the fabric - I see them too.
This is just a beautiful work of art. You are very talented.

Love your beautiful "ugly" fabric wall art! I've made a couple of art wall hangings.
The horses on the fabric are beautiful and I can see how hard it may have been deciding what to do with it. You are very creative! I love horses. The one you put in your picture reminds me of the little Greek horse statue in "The Return of the Black Stallion". Good job! |
I have some of that very fabric!
