The 1st border (white or tone on tone) will frame this nicely and blend with the Navy with white pin dots.
Why not make them each a little wider and just go with the two borders?
Another thought....4 smaller borders; a light then a scrappy border made of the left over fabrics from the HSTs then your orginal light, then the navy?
Good luck and please show us what you decide.

I love your quilt. Too bad you aren't ready to make it larger. It will be lovely no matter the size.

That's actually what I first wanted to do, is put the piano key between the white and navy, but when I laid it out, it clashed. The HST's are all from scrap 4" squares so there's no yardage to utilize any of those fabrics.

I also thought too of doing the two borders only wider, but something in me wants to try adding a little something to it, just haven't come across the solution yet.

Thank you all immensely for all the encouragement and suggestions. I'm grateful for the help!

Have you thought of putting a small border first say an inch and a half then your light and navy. I find that sometimes a small border first sets the eye for larger borders. I love the idea of using your scraps in the border too. What a dilema eh? It sure is a beautiful quilt anyway. I just love it. Thanks for sharing and may I say inspiring me.
