Now, about the other side. I didn't want it to just go back across there to the top. It looks like a big V. When it just went back up, it lost alot of the "3D look". So I decided to divide/split it again so that it looks like another wave. I took the piece that I've already sewn from the first side and put it in place on the other side so we could see what it'd look like. You can see the start of another wave and now it looks very 3D again.

See how the wave comes to a point on the right hand side of the picture? I like that. I've got an idea for it.

My kitchen is just almost too small to be able to take pictures. This is what it is looking like for now.

Well, This is it so far. I think it's going to be really pretty. What do you think???

When I first started this and it wasn't very big, I'd just lay out the pieces and then pick them up when I was done with them.
Now that it is so big and there are so many little strips, my DH suggested that I just leave it on the kitchen floor and cover it with a sheet. (Isn't he sweet?) So, it's been on the kitchen floor for 2 days now. With the sheet covering it, we can "gently" walk across if we have to. It like covers the whole floor so now it's hard to walk around it.
Thank you for your post. I'm glad you are enjoying the process.

I'm having a real hard time with my cats and this project!
LOL I am going to have to sew a bunch of the strips together, or I'm never going to get anywhere. Everytime I turn around, Somebody has gone sliding again. :o)

I don't remember if I mentioned this but I'm sewing these together like Billie Lauder does. Instead of having to match up all those seams, I'm sewing them with the seams in the middle of the next row. This will keep me from going crazy pinning all the seams to sew it. Here's a picture of what I'm talking about.

No Seams to Match Up!!!! Yeah!!!!!

This is looking fantastic! Hats off to you for making your own pattern, too. Plus thanks for the tip about the seams, what a great idea.

Love it! You are definitely encouraging me to finish my current WIPs and get going on one of these.

and thanks for passing on Billie Lauder's idea of putting the seams in the middle of the next row...who woulda thunk??? We are so conditioned to match it up! match up perfectly!...this looks sooooo much easier!

Thank you! Can you imagine how long it would take to match up all those seams??? I don't think I would want to make one if I had to do that. LOL This way is alot easier and faster.

This frees up so many ideas...my wheels are just a-turning.
