One of my favorite stores is going out of business. They started a sale monday of 40% off everything in the store. They are a fabric store with all kinds of fabrics and a whole section of crafting items as well. They had thousands of bolts of quilt shop quality cottons as well. I am bummed they are closing, the owners want to retire. I brought home about 200 yards worth on Thursday and Saturday at $1.69 a yard. These for monday were only 40% off. I did get one 7 yard piece of purple for $3 per yard. Dh has not asked how much I have spent the last 4 days, but it is mostly on the credit card and he checks those bills very closely

bet you can't guess what my favorite color is!

The black and Ivory are Fairy frost There are 7 yards of the purple on the left

My dd#1, the one in Iraq right now, her favorite flower is the Colorado Columbine. I have 2 yards here and a friend picked up 3 more for me

One more picture

I love the Robert Kaufmann Fusions fabrics. I have lots of colors in 3 different prints. I don't like to use solids so these are my solid fabrics. :)

3 of the pieces are a yard, minimum purchase, the rest are mostly 2 yard pieces

Your Dh won't say a word when he sees all of the beautiful quilts that you will be making with your wonderful purchases.

I love all of the fabric, I was drooling when I looked at the fabric that you bought last week. But this bunch is great too.

Great fabric. You have to buy when the price is right!

Jim's Gem 01-07-2009 02:36 PM

Buying when the price is right is a good thing to do. I even got all of these (except the backing piece) into my cabinets. Had to re-arrange a little but got them in. Thursday's and Saturday's purchases did not fit, I filled 2 more rubbermaid tubs in the garage. I think my DH mistakedly thought that once I filled my cabinets I would stop buying.

Hi my name is Gayle and I am a fabriholic!

What kind of tubs? We have spider problems and I've hated finding other things with buggy stuff in them.

I mostly have them in Rubbermaid Latchtoppers or Snaptoppers, the 60 qt size. They stack very nicely (most of the time) I like them clear so I don't have to open every one to find what I need. I can see what is in there before I unstack it (they can be very heavy when filled with fabrics) I have not had issues with critters getting into them, maybe I have been lucky

Gayle--do I smell melting plastic?!?!?!

What great fabrics! I am sorry your LQS is closing--but it does look like you have taken full advantage of the situation!

Strike while the iron is hot! You got some great buys, and I'm sure you'll be producing some truly beautiful quilts with your fabrics. Way to go!

GailG 01-09-2009 09:31 PM

I'm drooling!!! Gayle, that beautiful large floral in the "purple" group is out of this world. I'd bet it would make a gorgeous and interesting stack and whack quilt. How long is the repeat in that piece? I know some people have a hard time cutting a beautiful print like that (so do I) but since I made that one s&w, I want to make another one. I'm always looking for large prints. Instead of stacking and whacking, I'm just stacking them (in the bins).

Al of your pieces are to die for. Good hunt.

I think your DH should be very proud of your shopping skills! And how much you saved!
