My Featherweight Project
2 Attachment(s)
Finally chose to use my little Featherweight sewing machine for making a quilt. Sewed up a DNP and made scalloped edging and continuous bias binding. (All "firsts" for me). Learning to make the binding gave me some fits, but I sure felt great when I got it done. This will probably be a donation quilt for our church. Thanks for looking!
(Oh, I did use my 301A for the fmq). |
Cute quilt!

Lovely, the scallop really makes the quilt more special. Congrats on acquiring another skill/technique.
I love the quilt, but I especially love those scallops!
nicely done
Lovely quilt and how lucky you are to own a featherweight sewing machine!
I like getting out my featherweight, oiling her up, and doing a small project.
Yes, Sandra, I've been enjoying the smaller projects lately too. There are so many quilt patterns I'm wanting to try and can get to more of them if I stick with smaller quilts. Our church always needs baby quilts, so that's what some of mine are geared toward.

Very pretty. Congrats on the scalloped edge.
soft and beautiful

I like your sweet quilt.
so how did you like working on your FW to make this adorable quilt? was it a positive experience or not? Do tell.
It was a positive experience. That little machine purrs along nicely. I keep it in our bedroom and found I didn't disturb dh while he watched the World Series games. Our dining/living room is one long continuous room, and I usually sew in the dining room. I'm a big fan of sewing on the old vintage type machines but sort of got stuck doing everything on my 301A (next size bigger than the FW.) I'm trying to sit down at some of my other machines and go from start to finish on a project to really use and get to know my other machines.
Love your quilt and your use of your older machines. I think they are fun to use and such conversation pieces. I have a featherweight and a 401A and love to use them. They stitch so beautifully and are reliable. I have been having great difficulty having my newest machine, a BERNINA B530 serviced. They just can;t seem to get it right!

Very nice and a good quilt for donation!!!!!

I would have trouble giving it away. Love the scallops!

Great quilt and love the scallops.

Very nice! The scalloped edge looks great. I have never done one of those before. Congratulations on a job well done.
What a cute quilt!
I love sewing on my Featherweight. I used to travel a lot for work and I would often take it with me to sew with in the evenings in my hotel room. Wonderful little machines!
Such an adorable quilt! I love the fabrics & the scalloped edge

What a cute quilt, love the colors.
Lovely quilt. So glad you succeeded - a nice gift!
Adorable! As others have said, the scallops are terrific! I recently acquired a 221 FW and have yet to sew on it. I think I'm afraid I'll break something! I like your idea of making something small from start to finish on it, though, so may try my hand at that. Thanks for sharing.

Really cute. love your colors.
