This is the doll quilt I made for the swap with Japan. It measures 22" by 23". I thought I would do red, white, and blue in Honor of the 4th of July. It was so much fun to make and I quilted on it while traveling, so it has been quilted on in 3 different states. I usually quilt with a size 12 needle, but used a 10 so the stitches of blue would show up in the white squares.

When I was planning it, there was going to be a red binder, but when I got ready to put the binder on, the white just spoke to me, and so white it was!

Making these small quilts is so much fun, and I recommend it to all quilters!

thanks PQ, the star stencils were 1 1/2 inch across, I had to make it. the back is red and the white flowers show up as well as the white stars on the boarder, so the back looks like another quilt!

Thanks imjustme!

I'm so glad you said that, I was afraid it might be too "americana"!

When I first started quilting, I had my frame up in our store and all the ladies in the neighborhood came and "critiqued" my stitches and I would be sick on my stomach when I saw them coming.  they weren't afraid to gently tell me if I needed to take some stitches out. I have a hard time if I am tense, not getting them too small , which is a terrible thing for a hand quilter to do. they are supposed to be the same size, and that is hard to do sometimes!

Ninnie 07-02-2009 06:23 AM

Thank you Joan, Esqmommy, and Justquilting! Come and join in the fun!!
