This is the doll quilt I made for the swap with Japan. It measures 22" by 23". I thought I would do red, white, and blue in Honor of the 4th of July. It was so much fun to make and I quilted on it while traveling, so it has been quilted on in 3 different states. I usually quilt with a size 12 needle, but used a 10 so the stitches of blue would show up in the white squares.
When I was planning it, there was going to be a red binder, but when I got ready to put the binder on, the white just spoke to me, and so white it was! Making these small quilts is so much fun, and I recommend it to all quilters! |
That's just beautiful, Ninnie. One of these days I'm going to have to try a Mini. I just do better with the bigger blocks right now! At least I know where to go for advice!!!

That's a fantastic mini - I've never made one before. I'm sure it will be treasured in Japan, and will spread good vibes for international relations!! Good work.

I'm so glad you said that, I was afraid it might be too "americana"! When I first started quilting, I had my frame up in our store and all the ladies in the neighborhood came and "critiqued" my stitches and I would be sick on my stomach when I saw them coming.  they weren't afraid to gently tell me if I needed to take some stitches out. I have a hard time if I am tense, not getting them too small , which is a terrible thing for a hand quilter to do. they are supposed to be the same size, and that is hard to do sometimes! |
Thank you Joan, Esqmommy, and Justquilting! Come and join in the fun!!

Nice mini--quilting is great!
