I just wanted to show off my last quilt. I call it my first "real" quilt as it was machine quilted by someone with a longarm. Previously, I quilted by machine and everything was sort of ... off.
It's very simple with large whole-cloth pieces. I hope you like! |
Very nice, Jared! And I like the way it was quilted!
Thanks!
Very Nice! thanks for sharing
Nice!
How unique! The quilting makes it interesting. I LOVE the view from your window!
The view is what inspired the quilt! I usually work with darker colors but I wanted something green for the springtime. The fabric is shot cotton, so the colors are really very beautiful in person. They almost shift like a dupioni silk as you walk around the room. The quilted line really brings out the different colors in the warp/weft. I'm hooked on shot cottons now!

I love the fabric and the design is excellent. Very contemporary, without being banal....So many contemporary quilts kind of "miss" on originality...Not yours Jared....Love it!
Wow,Wow that is pretty
Love it ! And isn't it nice to get exactly what YOU want isntead of what someone in a foreign country thinks WE want  Thats why I love quilting . Keep up the great work

This is lovely, and is this your own design??? Beautifully simplistic. I would love to know what "shot" cotton is. Explain? Thanks, Joanie

This is really cool- it reminds me of Denyse Schmidt's quilts.
Your longarm person did a great job with the quilting, too! It fits the quilt well. |
For a first quilt you have done a
great job!! :D It's really pretty. :D :D :D :D |
Very nice. I like it.

The quilting really turned out nice. I love the overall look of the quilt. Great job!
Wonderful work, Jared! :D :D

Thanks everyone. It is so encouraging to hear the positive feedback, just what I needed at this point!
The overall design was something that I drew out first. I basically drew the colors I wanted and the layout and then bought all of the fabric in one fell swoop. Piecing was done intuitively. There isn't too much detail in the piecing, which is probably why I was able to actually finish the thing. :P The entire back is pieced as well with a little bit of similar patchwork thrown in. When I brought it to the longarm person, I couldn't find a pattern that I liked. I did like the meandering, freehand looping styles but I wanted it to be geometric. We worked out the squares and I'm really pleased with how it turned out! It was a really great experience. Definitely something that I want to continue developing. |
Your quilt is beautiful! Isn't it amazing how a good longarm quilter can bring out the beauty in your work?
Wow! That is very sophisticated looking! Your photo of the quilt on the bed was so gorgeous I thought at first it was a picture out of a magazine. :-o .
Haha. I like to take photographs too, which definitely helps out in instances like this. I'm sure the quilt would be a little more boring if it weren't in front of that fantastic window, which is the whole reason I chose this apartment in the first place! The lighting is amazing in there.
Love the pattern!!! You did an great job on the piecing and the quilting is wonderful!! :D :D :D
Just have to add, your other quilts were "real" quilts, too  8) 8) |
Simple but so elegant! I love the way it works with the window too! Great job!
It's very pretty. You did a great job and I love the quilting.
Wow. I love it. The quilting is a fabulous choice. The quilt is so simple, yet stunning in it's simplicity.
