I only made it through Chapter 4 - I lost patience and wanted to play. I think I have it finally where I want it. I guess I will be pulling fabric and making templetes this weekend.

LMBO...I just got EQ6 and I only made it to lesson 4 too!! I decided to "wing" it and started making quilts for all the folks I need Christmas gifts for. So far, I'm loving it....:)
DH is still laughing that I actually Read the first 4 lessons--that's so out of character for me.
Love your design, can't wait to see it in fabric :)
Good Luck and keep us posted.

chickadee_42us 08-01-2009 05:33 PM

This EQ stuff is really intriguing. It looks a beauty with both piecing and applique. I love the borders and the color scheme.

amma 08-01-2009 05:58 PM

Marcia 08-01-2009 08:06 PM

That is GORGEOUS!! I cannot wait to see it made up.

I'm so jealous---I want EQ6 SOOOO badly.

SuzyM 08-02-2009 05:03 AM

Thank you for your compliments. I made the templets for the applique work last night. I took an applique class a while ago from a lady name Nancy Chung - she lives locally in my area. I learned so much from her and all of those little tips and tricks she has learned over the years.

I have always liked the combination of traditional blocks along side applique work (probably because with the piece work you can see your progress right away which gets you through the applique process)

Anyway I will be out today picking out the blue and yellow fabrics today.

That is great!!!

Totally awesome! This quilt will be gorgous. The should rename EQ The Time Sucker! Every time I sit down to play, it's at least a couple of hours later when I look up again!

SuzyM 08-02-2009 07:01 AM

kluedesigns 08-02-2009 07:25 AM

its just lovely. i really like the final border

joannl 08-03-2009 04:45 PM

SuzyM,
Beautiful! I just got EQ6 & am loving it!
Are you going to needle turn applique or fusible?
Have fun fabric shopping.
Jo

SuzyM 08-03-2009 06:29 PM

I will do needle turn - I personally like the look of needle turn best. I also do a pattern layover instead of marking my fabric that way I don't have to worry about removing the marks later.

Well - I have fabric to iron and pieces to cut.

jdavis 08-05-2009 05:55 AM

That is gorgeous! You've blended the applique and peicing beautifully! Glad to see you're serious about going through with it! Do post a picture when you've finished!

littlehud 08-05-2009 07:36 PM

pittsburgpam 08-05-2009 08:22 PM

That's a beautiful design! Isn't it great to play with EQ and come up with your own stuff?

Looking forward to seeing it come to life.

barnbum 12-13-2009 04:22 PM

treasurelady 12-16-2009 08:22 PM

How do you feel about copycats? WOW. I've been wanting to do something like that but have no skills creatively. Love, love, love it.

After I designed my quilt my mom died so I am not up to making this one. It will always be my first design and maybe one day when my heart has healed a bit then I will make it. I have the last quilt she did but the binding needs to be finished. Mom wanted my dad to be buried with it so that one will be hard for me to finish also but I will because it is what she wanted.

Thank you everyone for the compliments. I will be doing my log cabin next.

SharonC 12-16-2009 09:10 PM

SuzyM - So sorry to hear about your mom. I hope you are starting the healing process. I wish you peace and happiness--you know that is what your mom would want.
You are definitely in my thoughts and prayers.
Sharon
