My sister from AZ and my bff and I get together a couple of times a year to celebrate our birthdays and of course QUILT!! Here's a couple of pictures from my first "quilting bee". Actually it was really a "tying bee" since that's what we did. But we had a great time with a couple of my sisters friends on a recent trip to AZ.

I put a couple of 5 inch borders on this to make it a king size

Here we are at a great store in the Denver area

You are so lucky to have a quilting sister. My sister can barely sew a button on. But I sure wish we lived closer so we could at least hang out. BTW...your quilt is really nice. Thanks for sharing.

My sister was my quilting partner. She would spend every winter with me at my house and we just sewed away. She got sick and died the first week of December. I miss her so much, but I kept her machine and the last quilt that she made. It had actually made me get out of the house and take some quilting classes at the LQS. I am color challenged and she would put all the colors together for me. I am slowly getting used to her not being here physically, but her ashes have a place of honor in my sewing room. Hold tight to all of your sisters and quilting friends!!! Penni

What a lovely quilt you are working on. It is so nice to have friends and family who share your passion and like to get together. I think the QuiltingBee should make a comeback.

I'm so sorry to hear about your sister. I can't even imagine what it would be like to lose her. I'm glad you have wonderful memories to hold on to. I know I cherish the times we get together, then things we have been through, and the memories we are making. God Bless.

The frames belong to my sister's friend. Her husband made them out of 1 x 2 pieces of wood. He also made legs that slide back and forth so we could adjust the size to fit the quilt we were working on. He put small nails around the edges of the wood so all 3 layers could be hooked on together. If you're interested, send me a PM and I'll try to get more info for you. It really worked wonderful.
